Note: This is an event by the Center for Research on Gender and Women.
Lecture by Aili Tripp, who is the Wangari Maathai Professor of Political Science and Gender & Women’s Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The talk explains this convergence of the three Maghrib countries around legal reforms and why these countries have been on a different trajectory than the Middle East regarding women’s rights over the past 15 years ago. It explains this divergence through comparative analysis of stability, democratic attitudes, political space and press freedom in the MENA region.
