Ahmed Abdelazim is a Ph.D. candidate in Art History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also has MA degrees in Arabic and Islamic Civilizations and Anthropology from the American University in Cairo. His research broadly explores the intersections of the built environment, gender, class, and religion. His work examines Egypt’s material and visual culture during the second half of the twentieth century. He worked on a number of exhibitions, most notably serving as project coordinator for The Mashrabiya Project. He also worked with the Arab Center for Architecture, based in Beirut, on the architectural exhibition “A Journey in Architectural Archives,” which went on display at the Sharjah Architecture Triennial.
