Jacqueline-Bethel Mougoué will be in conversation with Nevine El Nossery author of “Arab Women’s Revolutionary Art Between Singularities and Multitudes (2023)”. Arab Women’s Revolutionary Art. Between Singularities and Multitudes explores the ways women in the contemporary Middle East and North Africa have re-imagined revolutionary discourses through creativity and collective action as a means of resistance. The book draws from a vast spectrum of artistic production in revolutionary periods between 2011 and 2022 in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria.
Nevine El Nossery is professor in the department of French and Italian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Jacqueline-Bethel Mougoué is associate professor of African cultural studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with additional affiliations in the department of history and the department of gender and women’s studies.
