The Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Language Institute (MEDLI)
An 8-week Intensive Summer Language Program for undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals here at UW Madison.
Outside of UW Madison:
- Real Arabic: Learn spoken Levantine (Syrian/Lebanese) Arabic with engaging and interesting episodes covering culture, history, politics, and the stories of people from the region. These clips are in slow, simplified spoken Arabic from the Levant, with English interjections to help you along.
- OpenArabic.org: This phrasebook puts the everyday Arabic of 19 dialects side by side: Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Iraqi, Yemeni, Sudanese and Maghrebi. Search 252 phrases each in Arabic script with a transliteration and the Modern Standard Arabic form beside it.
