Congratulations to Yasmine Ansari for receiving the Deborah A. Hobbins Graduate Student Award in Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice. Yasmine will use the award to support interview-based fieldwork and conference participation. She will also present aspects of this research at the Middle East Studies Association 60th Annual Meeting and as part of the Fall 2026 Colloquium series organized by the Center for Research on Gender and Women at UW–Madison. She also received the MESP conference grant to attend the Middle East Studies Association’s 59th Annual Meeting last fall.
Graduate Student Ali Mansouri’s paper, Under Supervision or Underground: The Spaces of Contemporary Iranian Theatre has been published in the latest issue of Critical Stages Journal, a peer-reviewed, open-access web journal focused on theatre and performance art.
Carroll will travel to seven different countries during her fellowship to examine migration patterns, understand how communities are affected by migration and document the stories of the people at the center of it.
