Saeedeh Asadipour is a Ph.D. candidate in Art History, Theory, and Criticism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in modern and contemporary art of the Middle East, with a particular focus on critical theories of science and technology.
Her research explores the capacity of aesthetics in decolonizing dominant knowledge systems and their respective technological infrastructures, particularly in their manifestations within the Middle East, including contests over archival materiality, surveillance, algorithmic warfare, and the erasure of local biodiversity.
Saeedeh is also interested in the pedagogical role of art, with experience in the Education Departments of institutions like the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. She is particularly focused on the transformative role of art within the Global South in fostering and politically reframing local knowledge systems.
