Between the Sky and the Earth: Contemporary Art from the UAE

Curated by Abu Dhabi-based Munira Al Sayegh, the exhibition features twelve artists reflecting the diverse contemporary art ecosystem in the UAE today. With roots in the Gulf, the Levant, Southeast Asia, and the United States, the artists–all of whom call the UAE home–challenge standard narratives about the Emirates through an intergenerational dialogue exploring their social, cultural, and natural landscapes.

You can visit the exhibition by timed appointment Monday-Friday, from 10-5 PM at the MEI Gallery (1763 N Street NW, Washington, DC 20036). The exhibition is also available to view online on MEI’s Arts and Culture page. This show is on through Thursday, March 31st, 2022.

Organized in partnership with the NYU Abu Dhabi Art Gallery on view now at the MEI Art Gallery through Thursday, March 31st.
