About the Talk: This talk explores findings from recent excavations shedding light on the Persian destruction of Sardis. The speaker will examine newly discovered evidence that enhances our understanding of the city’s destruction and its historical significance.

About the Speaker: Eric C. Hensley is a doctoral student at the Department of Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies. He received a BA with Honors in Linguistics and Classics from the University of Arizona, a Classics Post-bac certificate from Columbia University, and an MA in Classics from New York University. His research focuses primarily on the Roman imperial cult in the Eastern Mediterranean and the epigraphic evidence for its practice. He also spends summers excavating Lydian houses at Sardis in Turkey.

The talks aim to create a space for dialogue and knowledge exchange on topics ranging from Ottoman history to contemporary Turkish issues.
