  • The MESP supports comprehensive modern Middle Eastern language programs in Arabic, Hebrew (biblical and modern), Persian, Turkish, and Azeri for undergraduate and graduate students across UW-Madison with advanced language proficiency to support their research and fieldwork.
  • Students and community members can attend the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Language Institute (MEDLI), formerly known as the Arabic, Persian, and Turkish Language Institute (APTLI). MEDLI offers high-quality, proficiency-based courses in 4 languages for undergraduates, graduate students, and adult learners. Their 8-week programs are the equivalent of one year of study. Students learn speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills though classroom instruction and a full range of co-curricular activities. Click here to learn more about MEDLI.
  • Students can live at Baytunaa: Arabic Community. This is a great opportunity for students to learn and improve their Arabic skills and is a great way to meet and interact with the Arabic community in Madison. Click here to learn more.
